    1. Though for Valentine’s Day it could be time to bring food and drink back together again?

The possibilities are endless – champagne, wines, cocktails, caviar, chocolates, oysters, truffles etc etc

Sometimes, we men need a little help with our Valentine’s planning …

  1. There’s nothing more satisfying than a drink that you’ve brewed yourself. I like the idea of the Wassail Gift Pack. I’ve got a couple of friends who would make the most of it.

  2. There’s a lot of yummy stuff in this list but my preference would be the Krug without a doubt. Love their champagnes and the brand in general.

    1. Correction, I have expensive tastebuds :) All jokes aside, only tasted Krug on a couple occasions and every time I was very impressed. Wish it would be my weekly drink but alas my bank account doesn’t agree!

  3. Nice to see that you’ve got some chocolate and coffee in there as well as the alcohol. Some of us our teetotal. Admittedly not from choice – I still miss a drink – but for medical reasons!

    1. Alcohol doesn’t do me any harm, I don’t like what it does to me so I don’t drink it. Another thing that I don’t get is why people go for cold drinks at this time of year?

I’d much rather celebrate with good quality chocolate, tea or coffee when it’s so cold.

Please remember us teetotallers and get in some special drinks for us over Christmas.

    2. Hopefully there are plenty of non-alcholic choices in the above (35% of the list is non-alcoholic). I’ve often considered becoming teetotal myself (I see from my Garmin watch how much even just one drink can affect my sleep), but never quite brought myself to do it as yet. I know a number of people who have and who speak very positively about it. I think a dry January is in order for me this year, if nothing else.

    3. Twice now I’ve had to abstain from alcohol for 6 weeks once and then 8 weeks when on medication.

On both occasions I really didn’t feel any better health wise. Though I’ve got friends who’ve given up and they say they feel so much better.

At the end of the day we’re all individuals and different.

  4. A Luxury Travel Blog has become a one-stop shop for Christmas.

Pity, you didn’t do a ski special back in November. After 3 years away from the slopes I’ve virtually had to start again with all my kit and clothing.

    1. They’re certainly continuing in popularity. Interesting fact courtesy of vinepair.com:

According to Drinks International, the Margarita has ranked as the No. 1 most ordered tequila cocktail in the world since 2015. In 2021, it was the fifth most popular drink worldwide, moving up two spots from the year prior.

  5. Not only is this the time of year for hot chocolate, it’s time to make it a special treat, like with the Williams Sonoma hot chocolate.

  6. Why hasn’t anyone come up with the travel size cocktails before? At this time of the year, when we are all on the move but want to celebrate, they are such a great innovation.

    1. I believe the concept has been around for a number of years already, Sheila – at least 5 years, possibly longer – but the idea doesn’t seem to be so well known…

  7. My girlfriend has never really got champagne, while I’m a big fan. If I get a bottle or two from Primo Liquors for New Year she might see what’s so special about it. From all the flavours going on, it seems to be very special.

  8. A pack of red and white wine is always a nice present. Add in cheese, crackers and black truffle popcorn and you’ve got a winner. I’ll be interested to try that popcorn.

    1. Some clever marketing going on here. Plenty of duos of red and white wine around, this one’s nicely differentiated, given added value by the crackers, cheese and popcorn.

    2. There’s something about cheese and a good red wine – they go so well together. Black truffle popcorn I have never tried, but I’m more than happy to give it a go!

    1. And pouring a pint of their Christmas Ale every 5 seconds is an amazing stat worth toasting too.

  9. I can’t believe how much coffee has changed over the last 30 years. Back then coffee was coffee, often boring dried granules, not surprising that as a kid I didn’t really like it.

Nowadays, you’ve got so much choice and the Christmas coffees always help the coffee year to finish on a high. TBH it’s the best coffee time of the year for me. Once upon a time I got all excited about Santa delivering my presents, now I get all excited about Christmas coffee!

  10. Tempted by so many of the drinks in this round-up I think that I ought to get myself the Alco Sense breathalyser advertised in the gifts section to keep myself on the right side of the law.

    1. They say it’s better to never drink and drive (and in some countries any intake would be too much) but, if you want to be sure which side of the law you stand in whichever country you happen to be, the AlcoSense breathalyser is a great choice.

    1. That’s a good point, Phil… if you have the odd bottle of wine in the house that doesn’t really inspire you, this is most definitely an option to consider!

    1. Napa Valley and Sonoma are widely regarded as the leading wine regions in the US, but there are many other up and coming regions across California and other states right across the country. California alone has almost 5,000 wineries nowadays!

  11. Mocktails are often a big disappointment, far too often they are the poor relations to their alcoholic siblings.

But the Cranberry Cosmo looks beautifully presented. It might well be the exception to the rule.
