  1. I like the idea of a round of golf on the banks of the River Douro.

Even if the round wasn’t going well, the scenery would be a wonderful distraction.

  2. My wife and I like nothing more than a good rivercruise. What’s not to like about sailing from city to city without having to keep packing and unpacking? It never takes long for the ship to become your new home. Though the food’s far superior to that I cook and the sommelier provides far more choice of wine than our humble wine cellar at home.

  3. Not all river cruises do Passau. Scenic is right to make this fascinating city a port of call. As a long thin peninsula heading down towards the spectacular confluence of 3 rivers it gives some spectacular waterfront views.

  4. When friends ask me about river cruises I always tell them to start at the top and to book themselves on a Danube cruise and then they’ll be hooked on river cruises for life.

It’s hard to beat sailing along the Danube and seeing some spectacular views. Also everyday you’re mooring up at another great city.
