Panettone from Marchesi 1824

On the occasion of Christmas, Marchesi 1824 supports the Pane Quotidiano Association with its traditional 1 kg Panettone. Especially this year, which marks an important milestone for Pane Quotidiano ONLUS, alongside those most in need since 1898. The Association – secular, apolitical, non-partisan, non-profit – in fact celebrates 125 years of constant commitment to ensure free and daily help to the most fragile and disadvantage members of the population, distributing food and relief goods to anyone without any kind of distinction or discrimination. A generous initiative that recalls the true meaning of Christmas: to give.

  1. Pigs in blankets are always irresistible. Throw in chestnut and apricot too and they must be beyond heavenly. Harmison are on to a real winner here.

  2. Perhaps reading about all these Xmas treats on the train into work wasn’t the cleverest idea. I’m starving now!!!

  3. There are some great treats in the Meg Rivers luxury hamper. What particularly appeals to me are the Mini Frangipane Mince Pies, far better than a biscuit with coffee at this time of year.

    1. We had them last year and I must confess I’ve had one or two (or should that be three or four) already this year. They are delicious. They don’t keep for such a long time so needs must!

  4. Caviar is something of an acquired taste but now that I’ve got it, Beluga Caviar is definitely my favourite.

  5. Fennel Seed Salami is obviously having a moment as it’s made it into The Gift Box.

It was also one of the canapés for a superb tasting menu that I had in a restaurant last week.

Will we be stuffing the turkey with fennel seed salami next?

    1. Ooooh, I hope not, Steve. I prefer things to be kept traditional when it comes to the Christmas turkey. There’s no need to over-complicate things IMHO!

  6. Last Christmas we stayed with my son who had been given a Harrods Christmas Hamper as a thank you from one of his clients.

There were plenty of delicacies for every meal that made sure that we all had a very enjoyable Christmas.

    1. It would be interesting to know how much the hamper costs and I’m guessing that it comes in different sizes?

  7. Plenty of mouthwatering suggestions here for when I finally sit down to plan what we’re going to eat over the festive season. Thank you.

  8. It’s a pity that I’ve already ordered my turkey as that one from Morton’s Farm looks very special. Love the added extra of the curry kit …

    1. We will be having a Morton’s Farm turkey this year and I’m very much looking forward to it! I think the addition of a curry kit is a really thoughtful one – such a simple idea, but one that demonstrates they’re really going the extra mile to satisfy their customers.

  9. Up until now, I hadn’t been feeling very Christmassy. After all we’re still in November. Then I read this post.

Now I’m imagining all the tastes and smells of Christmas, especially the chestnuts, and I’m even thinking of getting the Christmas tree out.

  10. The tastes of Christmas are far more exciting today than when I was a young lass.
We never had macarons, panettone and truffles. Nor did we get anything spirit infused other than the Christmas pudding with a slug of brandy.

  11. I hope that you will be giving us recommendations on Christmas tipples too. Will there be a festive season drinks special?

  12. “Only 29 days to Christmas,” the BBC newsreader has announced. I’m very grateful for these recommendations which will help us get on with our Xmas shopping. We can get a lot done without straying too far from our devices.

  13. It’s very impressive that the Bray’s Christmas Pork Pie is cooked to order but a little disappointing that I’ll have to wait 4 days for it.

  14. Spirit-infused jams and marmalades aren’t just for Christmas. I enjoy a whisky-infused marmalade most days of the week throughout the year.

  15. I’m always sceptical about statements like “Serves 4.”

I can’t see that organic cheese tower serving 25 – 35 helpings with my family of cheese addicts around. With the way they help selves to cheese it would probably be closer to a dozen servings.

  16. Never seen a hazelnut block before. It’s certainly a few leagues up from the old Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut bar.

  17. Good to see a recommendation for some classy salmon. We always get some in for Christmas as it makes a nice contrast to turkey.

  18. I like the sound of the Meg Rivers hamper with the mince pies and the Xmas pud and the shortbread …. All the flavours of Christmas.

  19. It’s 1st December and in my mind that’s the official start of the Festive Season. Christmas is on its way and time that I’d better start reading these suggestions seriously. Christmas is coming and nothing’s going to stop it.
