  1. That non-alcoholic hosting pack is very useful. I’m often guilty of forgetting the non drinkers. It’ll have far more variety in it than I would ever think of.

    1. Always good to have a non-alcoholic option. Not just for those who don’t drink, but also for those who shouldn’t drink because they are driving, of course. Plus for those who like a drink but don’t want to over-indulge.

  2. It came as a shock to see how depleted our drinks cabinet is. It’s in no shape at all for Christmas. I’m going to use this list to plug some big holes.

    1. That’s great to hear, Sue! Not that your drinks cabinet is empty, of course… I mean that it’s great to hear that the list is useful for re-stocking purposes!

  3. When the mercury starts to fall it’s definitely the time for Winter Jack. That blend of spices always hits the spot for me. Though it’s always the season for a Jack Daniel’s in our house.

  4. I’ll drink to that!

I thought I knew my way around drinks. There so many new drinks here to try that it’ll brighten up my holidays.

  5. My parents always prided themselves on their hospitality, especially when it came to having a wide selection of drinks. They would have been licking their lips at these suggestions. There’s obviously something been passed through in my genes as I’m going to top up on what I can offer my guests over Christmas and the New Year.

  6. When I read about the dedication and time that goes into preparing great whiskies I often get the feeling that I’m missing out on something. A couple of my friends are true whisky aficionados.

Sadly, it’s a taste that I’ve never really acquired. My New Year’s resolution is to get myself a couple of great whiskies and to set aside half an hour late night to give myself the time to relax and savour the taste.

    1. I can relate to this, Pete. I’ve tried whisky a number of times, and never quite managed to find a taste for it. But I know many people who are very, very into their whiskies, who go on tours of the distilleries, and so on. It seems it’s one of those drinks where opinions are decidedly split!

  7. It doesn’t have to be Christmas to have a cosy night in by the fire, with drink in hand! Though to be fair the Christmas lights make it even more cosy.

  8. There are so many great tastes described here that I can almost feel them in my mouth already. I need a drink now.

  9. When I’m getting the Christmas drinks together at this time of year I always remind myself that guests are usually looking for something special and often for something a little different. That’s how I justify spending that little bit extra.

    1. Having just done our food and drink shop for Christmas Day (at least most of it), I know exactly what you mean. If you can’t buy a few treats at this time of year, then when can you? 😊
