Photograph of the week: Stars over the Adriatic

This image was taken around midnight from Star Clippers’ ‘Royal Clipper’, looking straight up at the stars above the Adriatic while sailing from Venice to Rovinj in Croatia. Royal Clipper has five masts and 42 sails and is the largest commercial passenger vessel of its kind. The photographer used a 60 second exposure with the camera flat on the deck, and managed to achieve minimal movement (apart from the stars moving of course!) thanks to an almost millpond-like sea.
