5 luxurious travel experiences to enjoy with kids (keeping adults happy too)
India
For an experience your little Prince and Princess will never forget, stay in a palace – specifically a white marble one that seemingly floats in the middle of a Lake. Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur is steeped in history and legendary for service; catering to every whim a guest might have little visitors are no exception. Special meal requests; boat rides across the lake; evening cultural performances. After all that activity they will be exhausted, so leave the kids in the care of superb child-minders while parents indulge in one of the many dining experiences.
When it comes to luxury travel with children there are two schools of thought. One camp might suggest leaving them at home while the grown-ups enjoy; another believes firmly that the travel seed planted early will cultivate offspring with curious, contributing outlooks. I have a foot either side – some experiences are best left to Mum and Dad while others beg to be shown to young, impressionable minds. Here are five luxury holidays to keep adults and children satisfied;
Luxury skiing in the French Alps
Skiing is a pastime that can be enjoyed as a family, irrespective of age. Multi-generational travel is a trend that continues to gather momentum – Europeans have been doing this well for years and many well-honed options abound. Rent a chalet in the Alps and you can bring the grandparents to babysit while you enjoy some adult time. Les Gets in the Portes du Soleil region of the French Alps (one convenient hour from Geneva with access to three ski areas) is voted one of the most child-friendly ski resorts; with plenty of terrain and après-ski to keep adults happy.
Helicopter flights over the Great Barrier Reef
With One&Only Hayman Resort recently opening and nearby Hamilton Island offering many luxurious family options; there has never been a better time to travel to the Whitsundays. 74 islands in this archipelago means lots to explore; and what better way than to soar high above in a helicopter. Drop into Whitehaven, a seven kilometre stretch of pristine silica sand constantly voted one of the best beaches in the world. The young ones will be enthralled with snorkelling in the warm waters while parents will be equally relaxed with a gourmet picnic. Hamilton Island Air offers private charters.
Cookery school at the Peninsula Hotel Academy, Hong Kong
There are many, many reasons to stay at the flagship Peninsula property in Hong Kong. For children the Hotel Academy is a delightful insight to local culture and cuisine – different classes are offered according to seasons. Currently little pastry chef adventures are conducted with renowned pastry chefs – while they are whipping up sweet treats; adults can indulge in treatments at the Spa and Wellness centre.
Golfing paradise at the Intercontinental Golf & Spa Resort, Fiji
Fiji is a renowned tropical paradise – coral atolls atop azure sea (along with the hospitality of the Fijian people); ensures some of the best holiday experiences for families. The family that plays together stays together; so indulge the golfer in your group with a visit to the luxurious Intercontinental Golf and Spa Resort, nestled on the beautiful Natadola Bay (just 45 minutes drive from Nadi International airport). The par 72 championship course boasts coral sea views from the majority of the 18 holes private and group tuition can be arranged to occupy your budding golfers.

some great holiday ideas – thanks! I can’t decide which one to try first
I have been to the peninsula in Hong Kong and agree it is an amazing experience
Kid friendly ski resorts are few and far between so great that you came up with one! Close to airport is a must or else the travel part takes it out of the kids
Skiing in Alps is a must-do, especially in Megeve or Chamonix, why not envisaging to take a tour at Mont Blanc. Then I would add in this list the Dubai Atlantis The Palm resort, perfect for a luxury family stay in a sunny country.
I particularly like the last one. Staying at Udaipur Lake palace is a royalty in itself and obviously everyone in your family would love the kind of treatment you get(specially the kids).
I would add Grand Hyatt Dubai, it has a baby pool, a kids pool with slides suitable for toddlers to adults and 3 other adult pools.
The Grand Hyatt Dubai is truly dedicated to ensuring parents feel comfortable, if you stay in the club floor whilst most hotels its uncomfortable due to the corporate feel and clientele the lounge is nicely divided into 2 sections, one filled with families, you can sip champagne while your child watches iPad loundly or walk around the lounge without feeling uncomfortable… The staff give kids cute camels too!!
The choice of dining options is suitable for romance or family and babysitters are available and are lovely.
