Top souvenirs you can bring back from the Andaman Islands

Travel is all about making memories. When you come back from a journey, the memories are actually the best gifts that’ll enrich your life forever. Even then, when you bring back little things from your travels, it serves as a great remainder of the wonderful times you shared during those days. Also, when you have family waiting back home, souvenirs from your travels let them know that you’ve been thinking of them even when you were away. We are sure you’ll have an amazing time in the Andamans. Here are some lovely things you can get from these beautiful islands. 1. Treasures of the Andamans Nothing quite pulls off understated elegance better than pearls. The islands have select shops like the Sagarika Emporium which offer good quality, original pearls and pearl jewellery which can make a lovely addition to your jewellery collection. If you go for other shops, it is best that you read a bit about identifying originals in advance. Look for uniformity in colour, lustre, size and overall perfection before you buy. On the other hand, if your budget isn’t too high, you can always look out for the totally real-looking artificial pearl jewellery. It looks (almost) as great and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. 2. Sea shell artefacts What if you have something that will make you think about the Andamans every morning? A bathroom mirror encrusted with seashells makes for a great addition to your house. From wall hangings to lamps to decorative pieces and even big individual shells and conchs, you’ll find a lot of variety in sea shell souvenirs. The most popular among these is the sea shell lamp, which even looks good in an indoor garden or patio. Our favourite is the salt and pepper shaker made from shells. 3. Shell jewellery Shell jewellery adds a bit of casual zing to your attire. The Andamans has select shell jewellery that you’ll want to add to your collection. It’ll look great in your beach photos, too. 4. Wooden handicrafts These form the most popular category for souvenirs to take home for friends and family. From key chains to coconut shell crafts to wooden toys, there’s something for all age groups. Besides, you can find kitchen items like spatulas, interior decor items like large hand fans and even decorative knifes. 5. Photo memories A photograph from your favourite vacation hanging in your home is a perfect conversation starter when guests visit. Whether it is an underwater photo you take during your scuba dive or a photo in the backdrop of the spooky-looking Ross Island trees, you’ll find your photo souvenirs to be the best reminders of your vacation. 1. I’ve booked a trip to the Andaman Islands for February 2020. I’m never any good at knowing what to bring back, particularly for friends and family. It’s useful to have this heads-up on what’s available. I can do some shopping planning on the flight there.
