Osetra Caviar from Haute Caviar You may find Osetra spelled in different ways, this is truly a connosieurs caviar. It has deep rich, velvety notes as well as an almost walnut note to it. Like other caviar types, it varies in color as each fish is different. It can be grey, black, brown or golden. The origin of the sturgeon was from the Caspian which is how the brood stock was developed in other areas of the world. True Osetra caviar, with its creamy texture and nutty flavor, is one of the finest sturgeon roes in the world. The Russian Sturgeon, was known as originating from the Caspian Sea, Black Sea and Azov River basins, while consumed since BC times and now being highly regulated, caviar exponentially expanded to global market farming, so this and other sturgeon types are bred in different parts of the world. Farmed in Romania and Israel this large egg bead and mature caviar is one of our clients favorites. Like wine, every harvest matters, and at times some farms harvests are preferred over others, we feel a unique responsibility to source the most unique flavors and the batches from the harvest period that Haute Caviar‘s discerning clients enjoy. 1. A tin of gingerbread cookies is a must have for the Christmas season. Somehow we all manage to squeeze in extra coffee breaks when we need a cookie.

  2. For me caviar is one of life’s little luxuries. Although I can’t afford it regularly, it is a Christmas treat to have some.

    1. Hi Ivor – people seem to either love it or hate it. I’m certainly in the former although I must admit it’s been a while since I last got to enjoy it.

  3. Cooking a turkey to perfection really shouldn’t be rocket science but I always get it wrong. All help very welcome from the Perfect Turkey Book.

    1. I totally agree. In over 30 years of Christmas dinners I’ve only ever got one turkey right and that was sheer luck. That was in 2007 and by 2008 we’d moved and got a house with a new oven which didn’t help at all.

    2. There does certainly seem to be an art to it. My worst disaster was about 10 years ago when we had a really large bird and I completely messed up my timings. I got the weight all muddled and the turkey was cooked when family arrived in the morning. This normally wouldn’t matter so much because the bird does need to ‘rest’ for quite a while but – to make matters really worse – in my panic I managed to knock a champagne flute over next to the turkey and the glass shattered all over!! It was such a disaster – awful at the time, but quite funny now that I can look back on the event. Thankfully there were no shards of glass found in anyone’s Christmas dinner!

  4. I’m not from Texas, never been to Texas but got to agree that Texan pecans are the best. Love to get my mouth on that pie.

  5. It’s hard to beat wild salmon on both texture and flavour. Those salmon options from Alaska sound perfect for a lighter meal over the holiday season.

    1. Salmon is a bit of a mainstay in our household as one member of the family is pescatarian. I often find myself buying farmed salmon since that’s what the supermarkets stock, but when you can get hold of wild salmon, I certainly think you can notice the difference.

    2. I’m trying to up my intake of fish oil for my joints and wild salmon is a delicious way of getting it.

  6. This list makes me hungry looking at it. But it equally gives me some great ideas for the festive season.

  7. That’s a lot of interesting food. The buttercream frosted Cheryl’s cookies in a tin is way too perfect. You can’t go wrong with that gift. White Christmas Tea sounds interesting too. Seven rare exceptional wines incl 2010 Penfold’s Grange? I need to put that on my Santa’s wishlist!

  8. What a great selection. Sometimes with the busy time of year, I love to not have to make everything, so I would take advantage of those gingerbread cookies or other sweet treats to have on hand for entertaining.

  9. Pecan pie has always been a favorite of mine, but haven’t got enough talent to bake one for myself. I always go for store bought but haven’t tried Goode Co. It looks delicious so I might try and order some before it gets too busy.

  10. I love the idea of bringing a Pecan Pie from Goode Co. to my family’s Christmas Eve gathering. It sounds amazing and the presentation takes the guilt away from not making something from scratch. Great idea!

  11. Most definitely the wrong post to be reading when hungry. I feel like I need all them sweet delights right here with me now. My favourite has to be the Texas pecan pie. I don’t care what it would cost as I could imagine how nice it really is. Lovely post

  12. Such a lovely and delicious list of food and drink to enjoy this Christmas. As I do not eat meat, I think the best bet for me would be the cookies and wine. I especially love the gingerbread cookies and would like to taste some as I have never had them before. Also, I would love a glass of good red wine to enjoy the festivities.

  13. Omnomnom – lots of tasty gifts! So I have to send this post to some family members…..Expecially the buttercream frosted Cheryl’s cookies in a tin left me craving for some sweets now…..

  14. You have me craving for that pecan pie. And definitely some of that wine to go with it. Christmas goodies always give me a high. I definitely would like to gift a few of these but more importantly, get a few of them too ;-)

    1. So many goodies, perfect meals for Christmas! The bone in rib looks yum, and the fact that’s artisanally hand crafted is too good to resist! I would munch on the Christmas tree cookies by myself, fantastic treat for someone like me who has a sweet tooth!

    2. Hi Ami… don’t forget, you can always buy yourself a gift! ;-)

And thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment, Aradhana… I’m glad to see there’s plenty there to tempt you!

  15. This got me “buttercream frosted”. I would want a box of those Cheryl’s Cookies tin boxes. I went to the website and they actually sell the buttercream frosting in tubs! And everything there looks delicious.

  16. it’s great to see all presentations in blog, Really I love your delicious drinks and food and choose luxuries food..keep posting!
