New dining options at The Peninsula Hong Kong this Spring

Abundant new dining options await diners at The Peninsula Hong Kong this Spring, as the hotel’s acclaimed culinary team presents a collection of enticing new menus that highlight the flavours of the season.

Quintessentially Turkish breakfast at The Lobby

To coincide with the recent opening of The Peninsula Istanbul, its stunning new property along the Bosphorus, The Peninsula has invited guests at all its hotels to sample the artistry of Turkish cuisine. Since Türkiye is a country with a vibrant history, and a tradition of culinary arts that offers an especially enticing window into its culture, by offering time-honoured Turkish sweets and dishes – both in its hotel restaurants and as in-room amenities – The Peninsula aims to offer guests a taste of “All Things Turkish.”

At The Peninsula Hong Kong, morning diners can enjoy the enchanting flavours of Istanbul at the hotel’s signature Lobby restaurant with a choice of customary Turkish breakfast dishes: Cilbir, poached eggs served over a delicious garlicky yoghurt, and finished with olive oil and red chilli flakes; or Menemen, slow-cooked eggs with a ragout of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and garlic. Turkish breakfast set is also available at The Lobby, featuring Açma Poğaça with jam and honeycomb, Feta cheese with marinated olives, Dried fruits, Plain yoghurt with pomegranate seeds, Cucumbers and tomatoes, Citrus fruit salad, along with Turkish tea, coffee or The Peninsula’s tea collection.

The Quintessentially Turkish Breakfast Menu is available from now until 14th May 2023, and is priced at HK$ 228* per dish and HK$ 368* per Turkish breakfast set.

Classic dinner dance at The Lobby

In the late 1920s and 1930s, The Peninsula Hong Kong’s reputation for graceful social gatherings and dances began to develop, which became the venue of choice for the city’s most glamorous dinner dances. These supremely sophisticated social events have allowed generations of guests to enjoy the pleasures of a fine meal accompanied by dancing to the music of a live band – whose repertoire includes Jazz, Swing, Latin, and popular hit songs.

On 27th April 2023, The Peninsula Hong Kong will revive this delightful tradition by inviting all fun-loving guests to put on their dancing shoes for a Classic Dinner Dance in the hotel’s elegant Lobby restaurant.

The special evening’s menu will include dishes such as Green pea risotto croquette with Bellota ham, pita bread, and white bonito taco, Tasmanian salmon a la plancha with white asparagus, cherry tomato and sauce vierge, Chargrilled Iberian pork pluma with candied apples and chickpea purée, and Floating island with strawberries and Madagascar vanilla sauce.

An evening not to be missed, the Classic Dinner Dance is priced at HK$ 2,188* per person and reservations are required.

Traditional French Poularde en Vessie at Gaddi’s

Poularde en Vessie, a complex gastronomic dish whose roots in Escoffien French cuisine date back to the 19th century, literally translates to “chicken in a bladder.” It is a traditional and unique cooking technique by poaching a chicken in a pig’s bladder, and the ensuing steam allows the meat to be infused with the flavours of the other key ingredients: black truffles, white wine, and foie gras.

This classic dish is given an exquisite contemporary interpretation this spring by Gaddi’s Chef de Cuisine Albin Gobil. Chef Gobil has selected the very best locally farmed free-range chicken for his preparation, which will be served tableside with the option of a premium Champagne pairing.

The Poularde en Vessie menu is available from 18th April to 16th May 2023. Designed to be shared by a pair of diners, the menu is priced at HK$ 2,488* for two.

  1. I have very special memories of the Peninsula. Long ago, in another millennium, we were staying with friends in Hong Kong and headed to the Peninsula for drinks and canapés on News Year Eve. It was a very sophisticated and opulent ending to the year. Perhaps we should have stayed for dinner as we haven’t had a chance to return yet.

  2. Good news that the Peninsula’s making breakfast a whole lot more interesting with the Turkish option. Too many hotels never see much further than continental buffet and hot English breakfast options.

  3. It would be brilliant to learn from the wine-tasting at the Spring Moon. I’m hopeless at picking wines to go with Cantonese food.

  4. Sign me up for those white asparagus and the champagne dinner cause I would love to experience both! Truth be told, I always enjoy a luxury property that goes the extra mile to create these special events as that’s what sets them truly apart from the others.

  5. From breakfast through afternoon tea to dinner those beautiful images make it all look irresistible.

  6. The classic dinner dance is a wonderful opportunity to time travel back to a more elegant era. I’ve always thought that there’s a spot of twinkling-toed Fred Astaire in my dancing shoes. Though my wife may not agree having had her toes trodden on a few times too many.
